Full Text
Gen. Gaines in a letter dated the 19th ult. from Flint River, to Gov. Troup, intimates that an adjustment of differences between the two hostile parties of Indians may be easily effected, and the Treaty carried into operation, if Gov. Troup does not persist in surveying the country (which by the by has no right to do under the Treaty itself) until September. He says that if Gov. T. shall persist in his avowed intention to do so he (Gen. G.) will not cooperate with him. The question, so far as the Indians are concerned, has become less serious--the conflict between the General Government and that of Georgia more so.
