Last Week a Vessel arrived at Plymouth from Carolina, the Master of which informs, that he saw a large Ship ashore in the Bite of Cape Hatteras, and was told by a Vessel he spoke with, just after, that it was Monf. Chateleau, who has lately been so often mentioned in the publick Papers, that he was drove ashore there in a hard Gale of Wind, and that the People's Lives were saved: He also informs, that about four Hours after he left the Cape, he met with three English Privateers, and inform'd them of what he had seen and heard as above; upon which they immediately proceeded to the Cape, and we hope they will soon bring a more authentic Account of this Affair. Monf. Chateleau on the 17th ult. which is the last Account we have of him, was but a little more than one Degree and an Half to the Northward of Cape Hatteras, which, considering the hard Gales of Wind which usually happen in that Latitude at this Season of the Year, we are not without Hopes that the above Account will prove true.
