MISS ISABELLE E. GATES EARNS LAW DEGREE
Miss Isabelle Estelle Gates, daughter of C. J. Gates, 407 Pekoe St., Durham, received the LL. B. degree at Boston University's recent summer commencement.

She was one of 28 recipients of the law degree at commencement ceremonies that saw a total of 804 degrees awarded.

Miss Gates attended Hillside School in Durham. She graduated from Boston Latin School with honors. Later she received the B. A. degree at Boston University specializing in practical letters and arts in the secretarial program.

Shortly after receiving her degree, Miss Gates journeyed to Atlanta, Ga. where she will work temporarily on the dean of women's staff at Spelman College.

According to Miss Gates' father, a veteran Durham attorney, she will return to Durham "later" to join in his practice.
