The large amount of postage stamps sold in Sumter that do not pass through the hands of Postmaster Guillard has directed the attention of the department to this section of the State, and it was to this that the visit of Inspector Peer was due. The arrest of Postmaster Brown of Elliotts, followed the investigation of Inspector Peer, but the matter is not ended yet, for there is entirely too much stamps coming into this place from other post offices. If there is not some change other fourth class postmasters will get into trouble with the government.
