Letter from Copenhagen, May 2. The Treaty of Subsidy and Alliance, between this Crown and Great-Britain, besides the Articles which we have already mentioned, are, That the Body of Troops which his Danish Majesty is to keep in Readiness for the Service of Great-Britain, shall serve wherever that Crown thinks proper, except it be in Italy, on board a Fleet, or beyond Sea, unless it be for the immediate Defence of Great-Britain; that in case his Danish Majesty should be attacked, conformable to what has been Settled in that Respect in one of the Articles of the Treaty, and in fine, the Two contracting Powers shall support each others Commerce, in case a War should kindle in Europe, &c. This Treaty contains likewise Two separate Articles: In the First, it is agreed, That whenever the Crown of Great-Britain Shall have Occasion for a greater Number of Troops, his Danish Majesty is to make a new Convention on that Head with his Britannic Majesty. The Second separate Article stipulates, That as the Preservation of the Publick Tranquility of Europe, particularly in the North, is the principal Object of this Treaty, the Two contracting Powers engage themselves to act always in Concert in that Respect, and not to do any thing without the Participation of each other, nor enter into a separate Treaty with any other Power whatsoever, relating to the said Object of the Tranquility of Europe, particularly in the North.
