DES MOINES, IOWA.

Robbing the Mails,

Des Moines, Iowa, May 25.—Phillin D. Banks, mail contractor and mail carrier between Clarinda, Iowa, and Graham, was arrested at Clarinda, yesterday, for robbing the mails, and was brought to this city a prisoner. He has been on the route for fifteen years. Two mail bags and a number of rifled letters were found on his person. Suspicion has rested for a long time on several postmasters in southeastern Iowa, and the arrest of Banks will relieve them from much embarrassment.
