LETTER OF
APPRECIATION

I would like to thank the people of Nome and the many tourists who helped make our first Midnight Sun Festival the success that it was.

In a program of this type it takes many people doing many things, large as well as small to get all the wheels turning in the same direction.

It is only fair that Johnnie Stephenson be recognized as the sparkplug and major domo of the festival as she spent many, sometimes wearisome hours planning and organizing the festival at no personal gain other than satisfaction of a job well done—humble thanks Johnnie.

Virginia Brown promoted to a final success the costuming of the general public and that was no small job—as well as much other work during the planning. Congratulations Virginia.

The members of the Tourist Committee of the Northwest Alaska Chamber of Commerce wish to thank all of you who worked so hard during the festival. We can't sit back, however, and pat ourselves on the back now that it's over.

We all must begin thinking about next year and start formulating plans for a real tremendous festival that will bring people from miles away to join in the festivity. We can make Nome the greatest tourist attraction this side of Siberia. Nome has more potential and more historical greatness than any other city in Alaska and it's high time we start exploiting our worth.

To do this everyone in our town must join together to work for the common good. We either hang together or hang separately!

Let's get together.
