WALKING MATCH.

Mr. Barclay has won his wager with Mr. Fletcher for £1000 a side, that he would go on foot 60 miles in 21 successive hours. Mr. B. started on Monday night at twelve, at Ayton, on the road from York to Hull. He stopped six times to refresh and change his cloaths, which generally took him from 10 minutes to 15. The weather was particularly favorable, except from four to eight o'clock in the morning, when it grew hazy. This rendered him rather dull, but he won his match, having completed 60 miles in one hour and seven minutes less than the time allotted. Above ten thousand pounds depended upon this wager. Many people came from Scotland to see it, and almost all Yorkshire was present. Mr. Barclay had lived lately only on raw flesh. The space he walked along the road was one mile in and one out.
