Van Rensselaer Academy.
Mr. Editor:—Permit me to invite all who enjoy a "feast of reason and a flow of soul," to attend the closing exercises of Van Rensselaer Academy, which will be held from the 27th to the 31st of June, inclusive. Examinations of the ladies will commence on Monday, 27th, at 9 o'clock, A. M., and will be continued with music and various exercises till Tuesday, noon. Examination of the male department, will commence Tuesday, 2 o'clock, P. M., and will continue till Wednesday evening. On Thursday (30th,) at 10 A. M., addresses will be delivered by Rev. E. T. Baird, of St. Louis, Editor of "St. Louis Presbyterian," and Hon. Mr. Broadhead, of Pike county, Mo.
The annual meeting of the Board of Trustees, will be held on Thursday, June 30th, at 2 o'clock, P. M. A full attendance is requested; as matters of much interest to the prosperity of the institution, will be presented.
On Thursday evening, the exhibition of the male department, will be held. Original Orations and Compositions, will be presented, and the following question discussed: "Is the secular press of the present day, productive of more Evil than Good?" We send a special invitation to our Editorial friends, to come and share the feast with us. And through you, we give a cordial invitation to our citizens generally, to be present, especially on Thursday and Tuesday evenings, if you cannot spend the whole time with us.
