Full Text
Workmen have been busily engaged on the excavation of the boiler house which is to be built under ground about twenty feet to the south of the extension. The excavating is nearly all done.
Some of the rocks in the bed of the river where the new pier is to be built are so large that dynamite cartridges have to be used to throw them out of the way. Three blasts were made Saturday for this purpose. Quite a large outcropping of ledge has also been found and it will be necessary to do some blasting before the stone work can be commenced. The work of blasting out the ledge will probably begin today.
