BERTIE DISDEL GOES TO PRISON

TAKEN AWAY SUNDAY OVER HIGHWAY IN CUSTODY OF SHERIFF THOMPSON

Sheriff K. O. Thompson left Sunday over the highway having in his custody Bertie Disdel, to be placed in the county jail at Dade county to await the arrival of the prison conveyance to take the prisoner to Raiford where he is to serve sentence.

Disdel was arrested April 10 after a long chase by officers of the police department, and acknowledged his intention of committing a misdemeanor. Arrested with him was Elizerto Quesada, a minor.

Charges of entering without breaking with intent to commit a misdemeanor were filed by County Solicitor Allan B. Cleare, Jr., and on April 14, at a special recessed session of criminal court, both boys pleaded guilty.

Disdel was sentenced to serve three years at hard labor in the state penitentiary at Raiford. Quesada was given a suspended sentence and released in the custody of his father with an admonition from the bench that any future transgression would mean the same sentence given Disdel.
