Full Text

The result of the late census of Kansas demonstrates that there were not as many settlers in the territory as there were votes at the election of delegates to Congress. This fact establishes beyond all doubt the outrageous frauds that were practised by people from Missouri. The same game will be practised at the election of members of the legislature, this spring. We are glad to see that Gov. Reeder is doing all he can to prevent these frauds. It is stated in a letter from Leavenworth, to the N. Y. Tribune that the Governor has declared his determination that this election shall be fairly held, or no election at all, that is, he will withhold his certificate of election from all men where it is proved that they were elected by such imported votes.

We trust this may be true, and that he will act as becomes an honest American citizen, in this emergency. The freemen of the land will sustain him in his efforts to repel the impertinent and arrogant interference of these slavery minions and tools of Atchison, Douglas and Co. Let these men remember the character of the next House of Representatives, at Washington.
