San Francisco. Aug. 18.-The arrival of St. Bernard commandry of Chicago was the event of the day. A delegation from the San Francisco commanderies met them at Tucker and welcomed them to the Pacific coast. These special honors tendered them are in recognition of the welcome the latter gave the Pacific coast knights to the Chicago conclave.
On their arrival this evening they were met at the ferry landing by knights of city commanderies, accompanied by knights of Illinois, now here, all in full dress uniform. After an exchange of greetings, the knights fell into line, led by the Hawaiian band, followed by the California commandery, mounted Presido band, Golden Gate commandery, St. Bernard band, the St. Bernard commandery bringing up the rear. In this order they marched to Baldwin's hotel, selected as the headquarters of the Chicago commandery.
As an evidence of the marked attention paid them, one detail may be mentioned. Each cigar purchased for their use was provided with a band on which was printed in colors the name of the commandery, while each box was specially made and emblazoned the device. "St. Bernard's."
Mrs. Moulton, wife of the commander, was presented a flower piece three feet long, two breadths representing every variety of the choicest flowers of California.
Including knights of Oregon and Washington territory, it is estimated that 3,000 persons have arrived in the city within the last twenty-four hours.
