Wishkah Temple No. 33 held an afternoon session in Wheeler's hall, Friday.
Watson West and Leo Mullen are the latest additions to the fire department.
The W. H. M. S. of the M. E. church this afternoon with Mrs. T. O. Moulton.
Mrs. L. D. Robinson, of Porter, and son, Archie, visited Aberdeen, Saturday.
Preparations are being made to dredge the bar between Hoquiam and Aberdeen.

O. J. Lawrence has moved his residence to a cottage on G street above First.
The Hoquiam end of the plank road between this city and Hoquiam is to be rebuilt.

A. J. Stewart and C. Koehler attended the good roads convention at Seattle, Friday and Saturday.
Mesdames Maughan and Riker and Miss Rilla Riker visited in Hoquiam, Friday.
Mrs. N. A. Springer was discharged from the Aberdeen General hospital, Saturday.
On next Friday and Saturday the ladies of the Presbyterian church will hold a fair.
All who were in the M. E. church yesterday morning enjoyed the solo by Mrs. F. H. Green.
Mitchell Harris, of the firm of I. Harris & Sons, spent Thursday night with Manager Wolff.
The Roberts' cottage near the M. E. church has been painted white with green trimmings.
J. W. Carey spent yesterday in the city visiting his family, he returned to Oakville this morning.
Odd. Champlain lost four fingers of his left hand while working at the West & Slade mill this morning.
J. P. Sullivan is not so well as he was last week. It is doubtful if he can have an operation at present.

Contractor Henry is preparing to erect a dwelling on G street, next to the Fogel residence, for L. Vogel.
H. H. Carter and family have moved into the Fetterman house on Wishkah, between G and H streets.
Mesdames O. M. Kellogg and N. Dawdy, of Hoquiam, spent Friday afternoon visiting in Aberdeen.
Geo. F. Nye spent Saturday and Sunday in Tacoma and Seattle on Christian Endeavor work, as state president.
Miss Mainie McKinlay was recreating in Aberdeen, Saturday. She has been nursing for Mrs. Lytle, of Hoquiam.
W. F. McBride is missing a buggy and the same may be almost said of a team, through the carelessness of the driver.
The rock road bed on the Stewart contract is all right. It is a pity that Heron street is not made of the same material.
A dress party was given by the Elks to their lady friends on Friday evening.
The party was a brilliant and pleasant one.
Ed. J. Conger, who was employed in the HERALD composing room last year, is ill, with consumption, at Manchester, Iowa.
Friday morning, a car passed up the line marked A. B. C. beer, for San Francisco. This speaks well for Aberdeen water.
John Lindstrom is erecting a neat cottage on the corner of Washington and Hume street, to be occupied by his parents.
Holders of stock in the Six Eagles Mining Co., are feeling good over some report of a bonanza find in the mines this week.
Mr. Draper has returned from a business trip to Chehalis and other points in Lewis county, where he has musical patrons.
United States Senator Turner will address the people of Grays Harbor and Chehalis county at Hoquiam, Thursday, October 23.
The Artesans did not hold a social session on Saturday evening. They are preparing for the anniversary celebration in November.
Judge Bush wore his hat cockia-bill, Friday. His wife returned from an extended tour of British Columbia and the upper Sound.
Geo. Shelley shook hands with his numerous friends, Friday. Incidentally he talked groceries, flour and feed by the wholesale.
Mitchell Harris came down from Olympia last night, to arrange the transfer of the business of I. Harris & Sons to Geo. J. Wolff.
Jas. Stewart has returned from the meeting of the Good Roads Convention.
He reports the meeting well attended and worthy of consideration, though the plans would not apply to roads in this section.
In the near future B street will be the favorite drive in this section, and is the beginning of better approaches to Aberdeen for the up-river country.
Geo. Atkinson is in the St. Joseph's hospital, suffering from la grippe. Mr. Gillies will look after the logging interest of the firm while his partner is ill.
At the Aberdeen General hospital, on Friday, Chas. Borden had two fingers amputated. The fingers were so badly lacerated that they could not be saved.
The registration books will close October 14. In order to vote at the November election, all who vote in incorporated cities or towns must register before the 14th.
The teams were kept busy, Friday and Saturday, hauling short square timbers to the depot from the American mill.
These timbers are to be shipped east by rail.
Judge Goss, of Melbourne, was talking politics and shaking hands with friends, Saturday. It was thought the judge was a prohibitionist but he talks like a democrat.
Dr. E. C. Story, of Montesano, came to Aberdeen, yesterday, to meet Mrs. Story, who returned from a visit to California on the steamer G. C. Lindauer yesterday.
Carpenters are at work on the second story of the new school building on Market street. At the present rate, if the weather holds good the building will be soon enclosed.
William Yope was brought in from Carlson's camp this forenoon, with a broken leg. He was taken to the Aberdeen General hospital where he was cared for.
Attorney Shields, in behalf of Hiram Hulet, owner of the gasoline scow Fearless, has libeled the schooner Melrose for damages in the sum of $600. Bonds have been furnished.
On Saturday evening the members of the Norwegian Lutheran congregation held a reunion and social in their church, and at the same time introduced their new pastor to the public.
Norin & Hartung has completed for the Becker bicycle and sporting goods establishment a gun case, which is a piece of furniture. It is of quarter oak and full glass, highly polished.
Mr. Shyrock finished his contract on B street, Friday evening, and rumor has it that though every man will receive his pay, the contractor will not have to take a trip east to spend his earnings.
The pastors of the city will meet at the M. E. parsonage tomorrow at 10 a. m., to organize a pastors union, and later it is expected that the pastors on the harbor will form a preacher's association. The object of the association is to discuss topics of interest to the church life of this section.
A new Fairbanks platform weighing scale, that will carry 6,000 pounds, has been placed in the baggage department of the N. P. Ry.
Charley Johnson had his bicycle stolen at Westport a few weeks ago and now says he wants the thief to call and get the pants guards.
Dr. O. N. Sullivan, oculist, will be at Todd's Pharmacy, Aberdeen, from Oct. 14 to 20, Hoquiam 20 to 27, and Elma Oct. 10, 11 and 12.
The workmen on the Presbyterian church are finishing the interior, and by the end of the week the building will be ready for the furniture.
The Heron street improvement is nearing completion, about two blocks yet remaining. This will make one of the finest drives in the city.
W. H. McWhinney left for the east, yesterday, and while he is absent he will visit the great ship building plants in Maine and other places.
Mr. E. H. Tanner's cousin, Mr. C. Friedlander, of Duluth, Minn., after a short visit to his relatives, returned home by way of Seattle.
From 6 p. m. Friday to 6 p. m. Saturday, the Hebrews kept Atonement Day, and the stores of our Hebrew merchants were closed during that time.

The Aberdeen factory is making the seats and other furniture for the new Presbyterian church. The seats will be circular and of ecclesiastical pattern.
The Aberdeen Musical Club meets tonight, and will begin the study of an opera to be given in about two months.
Mrs. S. Anderson is musical director.
The usual weekly dance at Keith's Hall Saturday evening was attended by a good number of merry young people.
Brown's Orchestra furnished the music and an enjoyable time was had by all.
This evening Major Dobbins, of the Salvation Army, will speak in the Salvation Army hall. The major is the divisional officer for the northwest and is considered one of the best of speakers of that sect.
The American mill has a force of men at work on the floor and shed for a patent lumber drop. The floor space will be 30x100 feet, and when completed this will be as complete a mill as there is on the Harbor.
Martin Hamlin had some mashed fingers dressed at the Aberdeen General hospital this morning. His injuries were received while loading the schooner W. J. Witzemann, at the Anderson & Middleton mill.
C. Sauers has just had completed the improvements in the alley between his residence and the Odd Fellow's hall.
When his contemplated improvements are finished he will have one of the neatest homes in town.
Mrs. Fred Nye and Mrs. C. T. Woodins entertained on Friday afternoon. During the afternoon Mrs. C. Haddir and Miss De Grva Thomas assisted in making time pass pleasantly by reciting some choice selections.
Jas. Stewart is grading the knoll between the athletic grounds and B street, and at the same time filling in a 16-foot street from B street to the grounds. This will not only beautify his own residence property but will enhance the value of the property in that part of town, and be a general convenience.
Professor Harris is not looking now for a substitute teacher, for Miss M. Jeans, who he thought had deserted, has returned to her post of duty. Serious illness of her sister prevented her return earlier than Saturday.
Rev. H. D. Crawford stoops slightly when he walks. The cause; he just took a header off his bicycle, and cracked his breast bone, but then a preacher does not mind a little knock like that, he is accustomed to heavy ones.
Firemen's hall was the scene of a delightful social dance Saturday evening. Everybody enjoyed themselves to the highest degree. Prof. Bumps' orchestra furnished the music, giving perfect time for the merry couples to dance by.
