Providence Specialist Refuses to Act as One of the Co-Masters in the Baker-Eddy Case.

Providence, R. I., July 8. - Dr. G. Alden Blumer, of the staff of the Butler insane hospital, and one of the best known experts in mental diseases in Rhode Island, has declined to act as one of the co-masters in the examination to determine the competency of Mrs. Mary Baker G. Eddy, the Christian Science leader, whose property and condition are at present the subject of a law suit brought by her "next friends" against several members of the Christian Science denomination.

An approaching European trip of several months is assigned by Dr. Blumer as the reason for his declination of the commission offered him by Judge Robert N. Chamberlain of the New Hampshire superior court.

Dr. Blumer's declination will necessitate the appointment of another co-master to act in conjunction with Judge Edgar Aldrich of the federal court, and Dr. George F. Jelly, the well known Boston alienist.
