The State of Nevada has a competitor for the thousand dollar Banner offered to the State which would give the largest majority for Lincoln and Johnson, proportionate to the entire vote. Massachusetts is our competitor for the precious gift she having cast 99,000 for Lincoln against 36,631 for McClellan; and the soldier vote yet to hear from. Our vote, as near as it has yet been made public, is two to one for Lincoln. Although Massachusetts is undoubtedly entitled to that Banner, according to the terms of its offering. Governor Nye, at Carson, yesterday informed us that he intends telegraphing to Governor Andrews to waive the claim of his State (she already having as much political and patriotic glory as she needs). so that the youngest, and, in accordance with her size, the brightest star in the sisterhood of States may receive the first warm kiss of affection for her devotion to the mother that gave her birth in this trying hour of her existence. We hope Governor Nye will use every exertion to secure the prize--and, if successful, on its arrival there will be one of the grandest ovations ever witnessed on the coast.
