Indians Sign College Star
LANSING. Mich.-(ANP)-After being told by his coach that he would not be taken on the southern trip with the Michigan State baseball team in the spring, Stan Turner, the team's star shortstop, signed with the Cleveland Indians for a $4,000 bonus.

Turner, a Flint, Michigan product, was recommended to Cleveland by Dave Hoskins, Indian hurler. Stan batted .341 in the Flint sandlot league last season.

He once was eyed by the Detroit Tigers, but the club apparently lost interest after the success last season of Harvey Kuenn, the American League's rookie-of-the-year.
