Event Details
The militia of this city were called out to furnish their contingent minute men for the United States service. Captain Carroll's uniformed company had previously volunteered their services. In captain Matthews' company, the patriotism of the citizens rejected the idea of a draught, with Mr. George Jenkins setting the example, followed by many, making the compliment more than made up, so the only lot drawn was who should not be enrolled. In Capt. Dunning's company, 3 or 5 only were draughted. From Capt. Ten Broeck's company, no report. On the artillery of this city, no requisition has been made.
