Vendors From Payroll

The Ketchikan city council, by a vote of five to one, passed an ordinance last week eliminating from the city payroll all persons engaged in the sale of liquor, according to the Ketchikan Chronicle.

Apparently only one person, L. H. Kubley, chief of the city fire department, was affected by the enactment.

A recent municipal election granted the city authority to establish and operate a liquor store if sanctioned by the Territorial liquor control board.

In the meantime two local stores are dispensing hard liquor.
