Attends Meeting At
Central Sunday
A large crowd attended the meeting at Central Methodist church last Sunday. The meeting which was under auspices of the men's department of the church has as its purpose a forum study of means of increasing the interest of the church members in politics and thereby encouraging a greater number to pay their poll tax, register, and otherwise qualify themselves as electors and citizens.
The principal speakers on the program were Judge W. L. Mhoon, prominent Republican leader, and Prof. T. B. Wilson, president of the Mississippi Progressive Voters League.
Following the speaking a forum was held under the direction of Prof. James Gooden. During the forum many questions were asked by the audience respecting the right to vote, payment of poll tax, registration and other important civic questions.
The program opened with remarks by Prof. W. M. Gordon and was under the general direction of Mr. M. E. Mosley.
