According to the census of 1850, the following was the number which escaped that year.
So it seems that South Carolina has lost fourteen during the last year, instead of one since the beginning of the government; and that the entire number from all the States is 1017, these at $1000 per head--which would be a moderate price, as the most valuable usually escape, would amount to $1,017,000 annually, as the result of Northern robbery.
