Abo, the capital of Finland has been nearly destroyed by a dreadful fire, which broke out on the 4th of last month. Of the whole of the rich and celebrated University of Abo, only the Observatory remains. The academical building, the valuable library of 40,000 volumes, the cabinet of medals, the collection of astronomical and philosophical instruments, all became the prey of the flames. The palace of justice and its archives, and the town hall, were consumed. Above seventy persons perished.
