ALLOW WOMAN TO LIVE AS IT PLEASES HER BEST.
Madame Juliette Le Blanc, wife of the Belgian poet, has this to say in behalf of her sex and...
It from a woman we find as well, submit it for what it is worth and let it go at that without trying to argue the matter further, but there are doubtless a lot of women in the world who will rise up and take issue with the Belgian lady instantly. This is what she says:
Let a woman live her life with joy while she is young. Let her seek happiness. Let her live her life in her own way but tell her to be good—perhaps she won't be happy if she is. Just let a woman be herself.
When she's older, then let her be very dignified, do good works and all the rest.
I think that by the great public the woman that is neither bad nor good, but both, is the best loved and understood.
The people appreciate this woman. They know her. The totally bad woman is abnormal, the totally good woman also, but the woman who hovers between good and evil—she fascinates.
Man loves the helpless woman. He loves the woman who yields to the influences that surround her, for she is human. Man loves the woman who is not a foot rule, who is not a statue. Man forgives and forgets.
Woman what a study! I am a woman myself, and I know. It isn't the average woman who is happiest in life. The drudge is happy perhaps, just the worm is happy, since she doesn't know she is. But to be consciously happy a woman must have life work and perform it with joy in the performing.
