MILWAUKEE STRIKE
AVERTED BY POLICE

MILWAUKEE, Oct. 30—Mobilization of Milwaukee County law enforcement officers appeared today to have averted a third straight day of violence at the gates of the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Co. in West Allis a strike called by Local 248 UAW-CIO, moved into its 183rd day.

West Allis Police Chief Thomas Kastello said deputization of 120 Milwaukee policemen was responsible for the change in conditions at the gates, where picket line flared out of control the past two days.
