Island Bandit Runs Into Trap

SAN PEDRO, Calif., Feb. 5. (U.P.)

His escape cut off by the raising of a drawbridge, the capture of a daring bandit was expected momentarily on Terminal Island today.

The gunman held up and robbed a Japanese woman of $1,000 she had just withdrawn from the bank.

He attempted to flee in his car but a telephone call to officials resulted in having the drawbridge, the only exit from the island, raised.

The bandit left his car and fled on foot. Police said his capture was certain since he was unable to leave the island.
