Two youthful colored boys will probably face serious charges in Juvenile court Thursday as the result of an escapade in which they figured last night. It is alleged that they attacked two colored girls with malicious intent and that during the struggle the clothes were torn from the backs of the girls. Charles Freeman, deputy sheriff, rounded up one of the boys, Willie Herron, aged 14, and a companion who was later released after the father of a third little girl, who managed to break away, had secured a gun and going to the scene caught Orlando O'Bannon, 15.
According to the story of the girls the Herron boy had taken them for a ride in an automobile. Reaching a point in the neighborhood of Heber, the girls had been forced from the machine and into some shrubbery near the road. One of the boys is said to have objected to the attack and wanted to go home but the other two battled with the girls, tearing their clothes from their backs.
In the meantime one of the girls escaped and raced for home where she told her father of the attack. He got a gun and caught the O'Bannon boy but the other two had escaped.
The sheriff's office was notified and Deputy Freeman dispatched on the case. He found one of the youths on Main Street in El Centro at 10:30 o'clock and the other he rounded up at his home. The one youth was released while the other two are being held for juvenile court.
