PHILLIPSBURG, PA., Aug. 8.—Although the coal strike was declared off last Saturday, work was not as generally resumed in this section yesterday as was expected. The danger is that unless the miners at many of the mines go to work in a day or two several operators will consider themselves released from the discriminating clause in the agreement, and many former employes will find themselves unable to get work. In the Houtzdale district work was resumed at only three out of the twenty mines. In the Phillipsburg and Osceola districts resumption was general.
