POETICAL.

BENEATH
THE
DEEP
SEA.

THE MERMAID'S SONG.

O, come, love, and dwell
Forever with me,
In a bright crystal cell
Beneath the deep sea,
Where rich coral wreaths
In red clusters glow,
Our warm vows we'll breathe
As we wander below.

The sweet voice's tone,
Like a most-murder'd rhyme,
Shall mingle alone
With the water's low chime;
And the glance of thine eye
Through the clear depths shall glow,
Like stars of the sky
When reflected below.

Then come to my home
Beneath the deep sea,
Where the pearly beds glitter
A welcome for thee.
And the sweet gentle tones
Of the mermaid's song,
Will all thy soul
In its bright crystal home.
