Full Text
Mrs. Burton got a verdict against ex-State Superintendent Dayhoff for $3000.
Dayhoff and Mrs. Burton got into a controversy over the school book deal. Mrs. Burton represented a school book concern and submitted a lower bid than the bid accepted by the Text Book Commission of which Dayhoff was the leader by reason of his official position. When Mrs. Burton hammered him for it, Dayhoff retaliated by printing articles reflecting on her character as a lady, charging that she broke up a home and afterward married the husband and head of said household.
Mrs. Burton brought suit for slander. Dayhoff couldn't make good and must "dig."
