FASHION-WISE
By Ernestine Williams.
Last but not least we discuss the part that good grooming plays in the role of a well-dressed woman.
Having given thought to the other things that make a good appearance, don't slip up on grooming.
How do you rate on these points?
1. Are stockings perfect? Are seams straight? Legs smooth and sleek-looking?
2. Are shoes polished, lifts on heels straight?
3. Slip the right length?
4. Hair tidy? Well brushed?
5. Hands in good shape? Nails manicured?
6. Make-up applied deftly-no powder patches, lipstick smeared, etc?
7. Are all buttons and fasteners in place?
8. Clothes pressed, unspotted, and well brushed?
Tips On Accessories
As for gloves, clothes determine choice of style. Sewn gloves are always dressy, those outer-stitched are considered more casual. Shortie types do well with brief and wrist-length sleeves; four-button and eight-button lengths, crushed down, are best for three-quarter and push-up sleeves. Pearl and gold jewelry in classic styles mix well; scarves, neatly draped or tucked in V and high round necklines, supply color and pattern, tailored handbags should hold all gear without bulging; a medium to high-heeled pump is still the most preferred shoe.
