To Re-Enact Scenes Of 100 Years Ago

Because only a few minutes are allotted for it on the Fourth of July program in the Stadium, committees representing the Fort Nisqually Restoration Council will re-enact scenes in the Wilkes Fourth of July celebration at Lake Sequalitchew, July 4, 1841, at Fort Nisqually, Point Defiance park, in the afternoon of that day.

The Wilkes celebration 100 years ago was the first observance of Independence day west of the Rocky mountains and is considered one of the historic highlights of the west.
