What is this article about?
A letter refutes a publication by Hugh Ferguson, Michael Bright, and others that misrepresents testimony in a case against Mr. Israel for seditious declarations. It clarifies that witnesses did not deny the declaration but did not hear or recall it, and Mr. Henderson's testimony convinced the Chief Justice to bind Israel over to keep the peace.

A Publication has this day made its appearance calculated to deceive you. It is signed by Hugh Ferguson, jun. Merchant, Michael Bright and others, and states the testimony of Mr. Strawbridge and Mr. White, not as delivered to the chief Justice. These gentlemen did not say that no such declaration was made by Mr. Israel, but that they either did not hear it, or did not recollect it. If Mr. Henderson's Testimony had not satisfied the mind of the Chief Justice, as to the seditious intentions of Mr. Israel, why did he bind him over to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The fact as proved was, that Mr. Henderson heard Mr. Israel declare his sentiments, and the others were not attending to the conversation.

Main Argument
a recent publication misrepresents the testimony of mr. strawbridge and mr. white regarding mr. israel's seditious declaration; they did not deny it but did not hear or recall it, while mr. henderson's testimony proved it, satisfying the chief justice to bind israel over.
