MR. JAY's MISSION.

Notwithstanding the insinuations to the contrary, is likely to be crowned with compleat success—From three sources we have received information, which justifies our prediction. The first, from Capt. Allen, arrived at Salem, from Hamburgh—who, we are told saw a letter from London, to the American Consul at Hamburg, which informed, that Mr. Jay, and Mr. Greenville, had settled the preliminaries of an honorable negociation—that Capt. Allen, spoke a British armed vessel, an officer of which informed him, that they had received orders not to molest American vessels; which intelligence was confirmed by another American vessel which Capt. A. spoke with.—Secondly, by Capt. Parsons, from Petersburg, who learned at Elsinore, that Mr. Jay, had negotiated the indemnity for the depredations, on the American vessels: but does not recollect the particular sum. The other is by an arrival at New-York. If these accounts are authentic—and they certainly are corroborative—sufficient cause presents itself for congratulation to the friends of peace, and the felicity and happiness of our country!
