FORCED TO RESIGN.

Rev. Marsh's Salary Lowered; Congregation Lacked Sympathy.

Burlington, Dec. 1.--It is stated that the Rev. R. L. Marsh was prompted to resign his position as assistant pastor of the First Congregational church of this city because of a belief that the congregation was not in sympathy with his religious views, and methods. The cutting of his salary recently was taken by Mr. Marsh as an indication of that lack of support. Mr. Marsh has been very active in the revival meetings now being conducted here by Rev. William Sunday, but has not the sympathy of his congregation in that respect, and it is said that this also had an influence in his determination to resign.
