Joyce Rankin is Miss Washington High For '55-'56

Joyce Rankin, popular 17-year-old daughter of Mrs. Lottie Watkins, polled the highest number of votes in the student election Friday to cop the title of "Miss Washington High" for the year 1955-56.

Miss Rankin, along with four Attendants who will make up her personal court, will reign during homecoming week, October 24 through 28, the climax of which will be the game between the Bulldogs and the Lucy Laney Wildcats

Miss Rankin, a versatile and scholarly student on the campus, has been active with numerous school organizations throughout her prep career and has participated with civic and religious groups outside the campus.

In addition to being a honor student, she is a member of the Glee Club, Treasurer of the senior class and in addition to playing clarinet in the famous BTW band, is also Secretary of the group. Her hobby is listening to progressive music.

The charming 5' 7 1-2", 128 pound beauty is a member of the Providence Baptist Church and hopes someday to become a pediatrician

Last September, she won third place in the "Miss Sepia Atlanta" contest.

"Miss Washington High court of Attendants will include Annette Harris, 11th grade; Elenor Braddock. 10th grade; Jo Ann Jones, 9th grade: and Doris Jordan, 8th grade.

Two balls will also be included in the homecoming week. festivities; the Coronation 'Ball on October 27 and the Alumni Ball on October 27.
