THE LATE CONGRESS

Probably at no session since the foundation of the Government, so much important business has been transacted as during the one just expired. It commenced under circumstances peculiarly unfavorable &c. Recent events have tended we hope to allay the excitement then existing, and establish the principles for which we have always contended on a firm and permanent basis.

The most striking acts were, those for distributing the public lands or regulating the Tariff, and for collecting the Revenue. The reader is already in possession of our opinion upon those several subjects.
