ROTARY CLUB HAS IMPORTANT MEETING

The Rotary Club was entertained at their regular weekly meeting at noon today by Cub Scout 311. Vance Blackwell introduced the Den Leaders as follows: Den Leader 7, Mrs. Louise Blanton; Den Leaders 6, Mr. and Mrs. Ivy Iverson; Den Leader 8, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Baker.

Pack Chief Jerry Wade was also introduced and led the Cubs in a short program, and two of the Cubs gave a complete description of their organization, qualifications and explained their duties within the pack.

The Rotary Anns passed the hat and collected bits from the members to help boost the treasury of their sponsored group. Two Cubs were admitted to the pack today, Del Hanks, Jr., and Allan Gould.

At today's meeting it was announced that any members who have not made their reservations should do so before Feb. 12 as all reservations must be accounted for in order to place them in time for the Valentine party Saturday night at the Salmon Creek Country Club.

Harry Race Drug Store will accept all reservations and tickets may be purchased there also.

Four members were appointed to assist the committee on the Memorial Library drive planned for the near future. Those receiving appointment were: Dr. Wm. Whitehead, Charlie Carter, Brooks Hanford and Tom Morgan.

Commander Babb was a distinguished visitor at the luncheon today and his talk on the Navy recruiting was interesting and informative due to the fact the people of Juneau do not receive such information on Navy activities.

Commander Babb also gave an interesting history of the Mataco and a description of the ship. The Mataco is one of the largest tugs in the world. It has space for a complement of 90 men. The "Auxiliary Tug" has a horse power of 4800 and it was stated that due to the versatility of the ship if it were hooked to the ocean floor it could drag it up.
