Little Francis Gains Weight

Little Francis, the baby abandoned last week, was doing well in East Hartford Hospital this week. The hospital expected him to leave soon.

Thursday his weight was up to 5 pounds, 14 1/2 ounces. He was 5 pounds, 13 ounces when found week ago Monday night and fell to 5 pounds, 7 ounces last Thursday.

Francis was found on the seat of the Rev. Henry J. Murphy's car in the driveway at Blessed Sacrament parish, of which Father Murphy is pastor. He was about a day old at the time.

Detective Capt. Joseph Ciccalone said Thursday that police had not been able to locate the mother or father of the abandoned child. If they are not found, Francis probably will go into a foster home soon.
