Inhabitants of New England!
Beware of Domestic Incendiaries ! Enemies to your Lives, Liberty and Property ! The Fomenters of Internal Discord, Division, and Civil War ! ! !
" A country possessed of Freedom, has always two sorts of enemies to fear : foreign foes who attack its existence from without, and internal miscreants who betray its liberties within."
Citizen of the World.
The politician who wrote this sentence, little expected that there ever would be a country in a situation so peculiarly unfortunate, as to present to the world a COMBINATION of " internal miscreants" & " foreign foes," for the ignominious purpose of " betraying its liberties." Yet, such is the present situation of the U. States.- France and England having abundantly proved themselves the foes of this country, they are assisted in their attempts to enslave it, by those internal miscreants, the TORIES! They, instead of uniting to defend this country from its foreign enemies, are exerting all their powers to assist them in their destructive projects. For this purpose, they are now striving to accomplish A SEPARATION OF THE STATES, intending to resign the Northern Division to England, and the Southern to France. These men had rather hold commissions as Governors of Colonies under King George and Bonaparte, than to remain in the present minority. Their motto is- Rule we will:-and if we cannot rule in the U. States while it is an Independent Power, we will endeavor to betray it to Foreign Tyrants, and rule under them. We will not submit to this system of equal rights. We will never suffer the " vile rabblement" to come "between the wind and our Nobility!"
AMERICANS! Are you ready for a Division ? Are you tired of Independence ? Is the name of American Liberty become hateful to you ? Will you support the Government in its assertion of your rights, or, at the instigation of Britain, rise in arms, risk your lives and property, and involve your country in all the horrors of anarchy and Civil War ? !-- Will you suffer these " infernal miscreants" in conjunction with your " foreign foes," to" betray your liberties ?" If so, then raise your voices, and rend the welkin with exclamations for a Separation !
