Louisville, Ky., May 4.-Dr. Geo. W. Truett, pastor of the First Baptist church of Dallas, Texas, was unanimously elected president of the Southern Baptist convention at the opening session of the seventy-second annual meeting of the body here today.
Dr. Truett succeeds Dr. George W. McDaniel of Richmond, Va., president of the convention for the last three years. He was nominated from the floor by W. S. Wiley of Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Four vice presidents elected are Dr. L. E. Barton, Andalusia, Ala.; W. D. Upshaw, Georgia; J. D. Mell, Athens; and R. J. Bateman, Asheville, N. C.
Other officers of the convention were re-elected. They are, Hight O. Moore, Nashville, Tenn., and J. Henry Burnett, Murfreesboro, Tenn., secretaries; Geo. W. Norton, Jr., Louisville, treasurer, and Wm. Patrick Harvey, Louisville, auditor.
