In a Letter from Bethlehem in Northampton County, of the third of March, it is said that on the Sunday before as one John Russell was Hunting near Fort Penn, he was fired on by three Indians; upon which he took to a Tree, where he bravely stood three Fires from each of them. He returned as many, and obliged the Savages to make the best of their Way off. One Shot went thro' his Hat; another thro' the Sleeve of his Coat; and a third wounded him lightly in the Calf of the Leg. Russell is Brother to the two Lads, one of which was lately found roasted in a Barn, the other supposed to be murdered, or carried off by the Enemy.

John Russell was hunting near Fort Penn when fired upon by three Indians. He took cover behind a tree, endured three volleys from each, returned fire, and forced the Indians to retreat. Shots passed through his hat and coat sleeve, and one lightly wounded his leg.
