George Thompson is a driller in the underground mines, and like everything else he does, he works hard and conscientiously at his job. Twenty-five years ago the 29th of November, George began work for Alcoa as a mucker in the underground. Other than several months off due to a Company sustained injury, he has not missed any time throughout his twenty-five years of service. Six years ago last June he became a driller.
George was born a few miles outside of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He attended school in that area, after which he helped his dad, doing odd jobs until he finally started out on his own, working as a laborer for a stave mill in Pine Bluff. Later he worked in a road construction crew for the Long Bell Lumber Company in that city.
He is married, is a member of the Baptist Church, and his favorite hobby is hunting.
