March 10. By a Danish Vessel from St. Croix. which left there the 15th ult. and arrived here on Monday last, we learn, that the Fleet and Troops under Commodore Moore & General Hopson, had Possessed of all the Island of Guadaloupe. except a Fort called Le Dos d'Ane, whither all the Inhabitants had retired ; but that this Fort was closely besieged, and was expected would soon surrender for want of Provisions. which were very scarce throughout the Island.--That all the Ports in Martinico were so closely blocked up by our Men of War and Privateers, as to prevent the Inhabitants of that Island receiving any supplies of Provisions, of which they were in equal Want of those of Guadaloupe ; by which Means it was expected the Reduction of it would be accomplished without much Difficulty and Opposition.--That most of the Privateers belonging to Martinico and Guadaloupe were gone to Cape Francois ; whence they will probably be very troublesome to the Jamaica Trade.

Event Details

The Fleet and Troops under Commodore Moore & General Hopson had Possessed of all the Island of Guadaloupe except a Fort called Le Dos d'Ane, whither all the Inhabitants had retired; this Fort was closely besieged and expected to surrender soon for want of Provisions, which were very scarce throughout the Island. All the Ports in Martinico were closely blocked up by our Men of War and Privateers, preventing supplies of Provisions, of which they were in equal Want as those of Guadaloupe; by which Means it was expected the Reduction of it would be accomplished without much Difficulty and Opposition. Most of the Privateers belonging to Martinico and Guadaloupe were gone to Cape Francois, whence they will probably be very troublesome to the Jamaica Trade.
