20 PER CENT WAGE INCREASE TO BITUMINOUS MINERS

New York, April 16-At a joint conference late today between the representatives of the operators and miners it was announced that a tentative agreement had been reached by the committee for the operators from Ohio, Indiana and Western Pennsylvania, whereby wage increases of 20 per cent would be granted to the bituminous coal miners in those states.

Representatives of the Illinois operators have not as yet sanctioned the tentative agreement, and a further conference will be held tomorrow.

By the terms of the tentative agreement announced, it was said the wages of the miners would be increased from 60 to 75 cents a day.
