Tallahassee, March 11-(FNS)
While no new sources of revenue are advocated the State Budget Commission will recommend increased appropriations of approximately 8 per cent above those for 1933-34.
The 1935 legislature will be asked to appropriate the sum of $17,708,820, for operation of general revenue, special fund and special millage departments of state government for the next two years. A boost of one-half mill in ad valorem taxes is anticipated with all other sources of revenue remaining unchanged.
The county bond fund, State Road Department operations, and State school fund, which are financed by gasoline and motor vehicle license taxes are not included in the appropriations recommended.
Under special millages, the commission recommended the Confederate pension levy be decreased from 3 1-2 to 1 1-2 mills. the Livestock Sanitary Board to be increased from one-half to one mill the State Prison fund from three-eights to two and one-eighth, the Board of Health from one half to one mill. and the free text book fund be reduced from three fourth to one-half mill,.the public school fund remaining at one mill.
This would fix ad valorem tax levy for state purposes at seven and one-eighth as compared with six and five-eighths this year.
A balanced budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1934, the commission reported was achieved that expenditures of public moneys were within receipts and that the previous deficit has been paid in part, with a satisfactory balance existing June 30, 1934.
Salary and operating expense appropriations for state institutions and departments recommended for 1935-36, including special building items, as compared with amounts appropriated for 1933-34 are as follows:
Accounts which are paid from the General Revenue fund include $600,000 for collecting revenues, $225,000 legislative expense, $100,000 printing, $65,500 upkeep for capitol, etc.
