LONDON, January 22.

Immediately after the Decease of the Princess Governante the States General wrote the following Letter to the King of Great-Britain.

SIRE,

"IT is with the deepest concern we find ourselves under a necessity of informing your majesty of the melancholy event that has just happened, by the death of her royal highness the princess governante, whom it pleased God to take out of this world in the night between the 12th and 13th instant. We can well conceive, by our own extream affliction, for the loss of this great and excellent princess, the situation of your majesty's paternal heart on this melancholy occasion. We feel it most sensibly, and wish we could, by mingling our tears with those of your majesty, in some measure lessen its bitterness. We pray that the Almighty may be graciously pleased to support your majesty to the most advanced age, and bless the two illustrious branches that are left to us, and which we cherish with all possible tenderness. We presume to assure you, Sire, that we will employ all our care, and bestow our whole attention, on what concerns the rights and interests of the young prince, and madam the princess his sister, whom we look upon as the children of the republick. At the same time we request a continuance of your majesty's good will towards this state. We shall endeavour to deserve it more than ever, by the zeal and devotion with which we shall ever be, Sire, &c."
