DISAPPOINTMENT
We understand that the friends of the Vice-President were so perfectly sure that he would be elected Governour of this State, that they caused a full length portrait of his Excellency to be painted, for the purpose of exhibiting it, in transparency, in the front of Tammany Hall, as soon as the joyful tidings of his success should reach this city. But as ill luck would have it, on counting the ballots he has been found wanting, and all the fun is spoiled.
The publick, therefore, will be disappointed in witnessing the splendid illumination which was in preparation to be exhibited had not that ugly jade, Miss Fortune, frowned upon their efforts.—The picture, it is said, does great credit to the artist, and we hope it may be placed in the Academy of Fine Arts. We learn, that this splendid picture cost the sum of eight hundred dollars. A heavy loss, when added to the loss of the election.
