(Special to The Evening World.)
ALBANY, Oct. 22. - John B. Stanchfield, the Democratic candidate for Governor, is under medical treatment in this city.
He strained the ligaments of his back the other day playing golf and it hurt him so badly last night on the way to this city from Elmira to Troy, where he is scheduled to deliver a political speech to-night, that he was compelled to leave the train and go to the Hotel Ten Eyck and receive medical treatment.
His injury is not of a severe character and he will be able to go to Troy to-night to speak, as scheduled. He remained in his room at the Ten Eyck to-day and took absolute rest.
The doctor stated that the injury was simply a strain of the ligaments and was of a trivial character, although very painful when Mr. Stanchfield walked about.
He laughed to-day when questioned about his injury, and said:
"The injury amounts to nothing. It bothered me a little last night. It will not interfere, however, with my engagement at Troy to-night, nor with any engagement I have made to speak during the campaign."
