Full Text

Extract of a letter from a Gentleman at Boston to his correspondent in London, Feb. 5.

"I cannot conclude my letter without one or two lamentations over the deplorable state of America, deprived in several colonies of its legislature, and labouring under the frowns of the best of Kings, by misrepresentations and false reports. Strange! that any man should have a soul so sordid as to seek the ruin of his country merely for the sake of interest and favour. What does such a wretch deserve? Shadrach's furnace is too cool for such a villain, gibbets too mild a punishment, and eternal death scarce adequate to his crimes. But, notwithstanding these gloomy appearances, I hope we shall live to see better times, and doubt not, when a proper account of our sufferings reaches the Royal ear, our grievances will be redressed, and all our constitutional liberties restored."
