Over Sonar School
Julio Santana banged out a triple and double to lead the Junior Conchs to their ninth straight victory in Island City Baseball League play yesterday afternoon at Wickers Stadium when they turned back the Sonar School 7 to 1.
Tony Hopey gave up six hits, whiffed nine and the only run scored off him by the Sonarmen was unearned.
Jones was nicked for 10 hits.
Leeburg Knowles also got a triple and single and Roger Bean hit two for four.
In the opening game the Cuban Club forfeited to the Boca Chica Flyers when they were unable to field a team.
With several substitutes in the lineup the Cuban Club then went on to meet the Flyers in an exhibition game 8 to 5.
George Lastres got a double and three singles in four trips to the plate to lead the Cuban Club's offense. Murphy, of the Flyers, banged out two doubles and a single.
